Xiaoqi Coffee’s gift box draws its core inspiration from Baiming, one of Matsu’s most significant cultural rituals. Through the interplay of black-and-white silhouettes, striped parallax effects, and ceremonial compositions, the design creates a rhythmic sense of procession and a multilayered narrative atmosphere. The stark contrast of black and white symbolizes the purity of faith and the collective unity of the community, while the parallax stripes emulate shifting light and shadows during movement, giving the box a dynamic, participatory cultural presence.
The exterior packaging uses kraft paper with visible fiber textures, paired with warm, hand-drawn illustrations, allowing the material itself to become an extension of culture. The tactile quality of the kraft paper carries the rawness of the land, the traces of craftsmanship, and the weight of local stories. As a result, the gift box becomes more than a container—it becomes a cultural experience where touch and sight participate together. Guided by the idea of “turning coffee into a vessel that carries Matsu’s stories,” each unboxing moment feels like reliving a folk ritual from the island, transforming the gift box into a medium that conveys the spirit of place.
