This home improvement project emerged from the 2020–2022 pandemic and is an extremely rare solo endeavor, entirely completed by the designer—from concept to construction. Inspired by his personal experiences during the pandemic, the designer identified the universally human concept of a family haven as the central creative idea for this project.
This project is more than just a creative home improvement initiative; it serves as a proactive response to the social dynamics of the 21st-century pandemic through design. It tells a broader social story through the lens of a small courtyard. At the same time, the project explores significant innovations and enhancements in the most basic living unit, making it a large practical piece of environmental art. The widespread innovation and enhancement of individual home environments lay the groundwork for a broader transformation of human settlements.
At its core, the design challenges traditional thinking and methods, moving beyond conventional household settings. It materializes shared human life concepts and imprints them with the mark of the pandemic era. By blending Eastern and Western cultural influences, merging past and present, and leveraging the connectivity of the digital era, it introduces a bold, dynamic, and joyful new way of living—showcasing the immense potential for human settlements to be far more colorful and diverse.
It is hoped that this project will serve as a source of inspiration for future living environments—offering humanistic solace, a spiritual uplift, and enduring memories of the pandemic era.
