A truly exceptional residence is not defined by the exclusive possession of scenery, but by its ability to grow within a city’s irreplaceable natural context, allowing the vastness of sky, sea and landscape to become part of everyday life. Located beside the bay, the residence explores a contemporary way of living where ocean, garden and home are no longer separated, but integrated into a continuous spatial experience.
Inspired by the shared coastal spirit of Xiamen and Miami, the design extracts the cultural essence of these two waterfront cities: openness, diversity, social interaction and harmony with nature. Rather than applying superficial coastal symbols, the project adopts restrained modern classicism, subtle luxury and the light atmosphere of seaside living to create a calm yet expressive residential environment.
The private courtyard serves as the starting point of the relationship between architecture and the bay. Light, breeze, views and human movement converge within this space, extending naturally into the living and dining areas before flowing through the double-height structure toward entertainment, tea and private spaces. The bay is transformed from a distant visual backdrop into an active element of daily life, influencing the atmosphere through changing daylight, air and time.
Floor-to-ceiling glazing introduces waterfront views, tree shadows and natural light into the interior, allowing the external landscape to continuously reshape the indoor atmosphere. A caramel-toned curved sofa creates a relaxed social setting, while dark accent chairs, geometric stone elements and warm wood finishes establish a balanced composition between softness and strength. The restrained fireplace, layered ceilings and indirect lighting further enhance the sense of calm refinement as the day transitions into evening.
The design avoids excessive decoration and allows materials, proportions and spatial relationships to express understated elegance. Metallic accents and artworks are carefully placed to support rather than dominate the environment, leaving space for conversation, gathering and personal reflection. Ultimately, the residence redefines waterfront living through the integration of sea, garden and urban culture, creating a home that balances privacy, openness and the enduring comfort of everyday life.
