In this four-story house, a vertically integrated circulation unfolds into a spatial arrangement that harmonizes with the residents’ daily routines. The first floor accommodates the common living areas, embracing the building’s elongated footprint with an open layout that allows natural light to flow freely, enhancing brightness throughout the space. A half-height bar counter won’t feel as enclosed as a wall but will create separate spaces, creating a sense of order, layered rhythm, and a visual focal point. The second floor accommodates a bedroom for the elders and a guest room. The third floor boasts a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, forming a private retreat. A study room is located on the fourth floor, offering a calm, secluded space for contemplation.
Rooted in modern design, the interior blends deep brown wood hues, stone patterns, and textured paint to shape a serene environment while keeping the atmosphere grounded. To counterbalance the heaviness of the dark tones, different reflective materials from LED strip lights to mirrors, metal, and glass invite light to drift delicately through the interior. Reflection and transparency work together to expand the visual depth in the space. Weathered metal panels and softly recessed curves define the sideboard, complemented by an elegant stone-patterned backdrop. The combination brings both ruggedness and refinement into the composition, striking a balance between contrast and harmony. The area beneath the staircase is configured as a display cabinet, elevated by carefully positioned lights that lend it a boutique-like sense of luxury. A simple stair design can be elevated by incorporating metal and glass elements. The combination of steps with sleek metal railings and glass panels not only visually stretches the space vertically but also enhances the sense of openness.
In the master bedroom, layers of cement-like textures, wood veneer, and deep gray panels are composed in a staggered arrangement. Their contrasting tones introduce a subtle and light rhythm that lifts the calm and grounded foundation. In the elder’s room and guest bedroom, soft textures, muted gray accents, and warm beige tones evoke a sense of peace and relaxation, restoring the space to a state of purity.
