Shangrao Gexian Village Resort

Located in the Gexian Mountain Scenic Spot (a Taoist mountain), this project covers a large area with many building blocks, so the designer strives to achieve a seamless connection of the hotels in each block and the unique architectural language of those hotels. With the story of the ancients who cultivate themselves to become immortals, by integrating the western traditional aesthetics into the traditional Chinese culture and using the landscape techniques of classical mountains and rivers, a small mountain village in the Eastern Han Dynasty is recreated.
The architecture uses the Chinese design style of "harmonious co-existence between human and nature" from appearance to indoor decoration, delicate and rich in Taoism culture atmosphere. The internal space uses the burly wood beam columns exposed to reflect natural and primitive feeling, which is decorated by local materials by virtue of the advantages of natural resources. For example, original stones are used to pave the floor, the walls of guest rooms are decorated by the field soil processed by seal coat, and waste logs and bamboos are made into artware to reduce the cost of material transportation. Heating and ventilation are reduced according to natural diurnal temperature variation in order to save energy and reduce emission.
According to local characteristics, guesthouses are themed by natural and ecological elements, or named by Taoist ideas. The theme design of characteristic hotel is developed based on both culture and artistry. Although the hue of hard decoration is uniform overall, the soft decoration and artwork with clear distinction are selected to reflect the uniqueness of hotels.
