Hands Unbound

Hands Unbound is a fashion accessory project that reimagines the relationship between women, handbags, and the hands that carry them.
For generations, women’s hands have represented both independence and expectation: they create, work, care, carry, and communicate, while also being shaped by ideas of what women should do and how they should behave.
Inspired by this contradiction, the project transforms the hand itself into a sculptural object—not as a symbol of obligation, but of autonomy. At the center of the design is a hand-shaped ceramic cuff integrated with a compact furry bag. The ceramic hand becomes a surreal extension of the wearer’s body, blurring the boundary between the person who carries and the object being carried.
“Free your hands” is not simply about keeping the hands physically empty, but about giving them the freedom to choose—to carry, create, touch, express, or let go.
Hands Unbound ultimately asks: rather than defining what women’s hands should hold or do, what if they were simply free to choose?
