Located at Exit C of Signal Hill Station on Metro Line 4, this project revitalizes subway overlay assets by integrating medical and health services with the city’s infrastructure. Spanning 1,487㎡, it meets the health management needs of employees and surrounding communities while enhancing the overall value of the space. By transforming traditional medical check-up spaces into immersive healing environments, the project shifts the focus from routine physical exams to a more holistic, sensory experience.
The design centers around the concept of "forest sea symbiosis," with core themes of "wood breathing" and "water pulsation." This integration of natural elements—combining the carbon-oxygen cycle of forests with the fluid energy of the ocean—breaks the cold, sterile atmosphere typical of medical facilities. The space engages all four sensory dimensions: sight, sound, touch, and smell, creating a therapeutic experience that nurtures both the body and mind.
In terms of materials, the project uses sustainable, eco-friendly options that comply with medical sterile standards while reflecting natural textures. Wood-colored furniture, water ripple decorations, and other elements echo the forest-ocean theme, contributing to the calming atmosphere. The layout is simple yet practical, with clear differentiation between dynamic and static zones, ensuring smooth traffic flow and enhancing the healing experience.
The design also incorporates a focus on long-term sustainability by selecting materials that are easy to maintain, reducing waste and ensuring the space remains functional over time. This thoughtful integration of ecological principles and health services sets a new standard for urban wellness spaces, combining medical professionalism with the immersive benefits of nature.
