The Evolution of the "Swiss Army Knife" Museum The traditional museum—a closed, hierarchical "white cube"—is an outdated relic of the 18th century. Today’s society demands pluralism and openness. Brise-Vent Havre rejects the rigid museum archetype, reimagining it as a "Swiss Army Knife": a versatile, civic tool designed for a rapidly changing urban landscape.

Transparency as Civic Value In an era of digital isolation, we believe the physical museum is the only architectural type capable of fostering true publicness. We propose a "borderless museum" through transparency and openness. This isn't just visual; it is functional. By allowing administration, research, and education to coexist without hard boundaries, we create a space where learning, reflection, and relaxation happen simultaneously amidst a productive sense of disorder.

The Architecture of Flux: Bands and Living Rooms The project is organized into a series of functional bands—white cubes, black boxes, libraries, studios, and gardens—that flow seamlessly from the interior to the sea. A 240-meter-long "flexible living room" (utilizing the existing structure) penetrates these bands. This spine acts as a catalyst for "cross-programming," merging genres into unprecedented spatial combinations. Like the internal organs of a sturdy crustacean, the interior remains flexible and adaptive within its shell.

A Multiverse of Experience Moving away from linear narratives, this museum functions like a multiverse. Visitors navigate a web of diverse paths, creating their own meanings based on the bands they encounter. By contrasting the classical museum with this multifaceted model, we reaffirm the museum’s social value and propose a new, inclusive future for civic architecture.
