The Elegance from the Hollow Valley

Located in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with a floor area of 900 square meters, this case is dedicated to reconstructing the parallel space of a family of six in a common residence, balancing the lifestyles of two generations, and creating a livable living place.
The original structure of the building is cut and reorganized by geometric blocks to form crisscrossing paths, alluding to the dialectical relationship of “existence and non-existence” in oriental space philosophy.
The design concept is rooted in deconstructionist thinking, using white space to echo the original tension of the concrete frame. The warm wood texture and the coarse concrete wall form a dialogue between reality and reality, the milky white color swimming in the stone surface, the weight of the material is diffused in the light and shadow. Through the three-dimensional grid weaving of light and shadow, the spatial entity gradually fades into a flowing light container. The staircase installation uses a deconstructionist approach to reshape the vertical dynamic line, and the misplaced treads form a carrier for the light track, so that the light and shadow scenes of alternating day and night can freely diffuse between the floors.
The highlight of the design lies in the establishment of a three-layer progressive system: the first physical dimension balances the parallax through geometric cutting, the second optical dimension relies on the window system to guide the space-time narrative, and the third spiritual dimension creates an empty and silent mood through the collision of white space and texture. Ultimately, it realizes the borderless state of “living in it without servitude to things”, so that intergenerational differences can be naturally bridged between the flow of light and shadow.
