This case is a three-story residential building, located in the alley of Siluo Old Street, Yunlin, Taiwan. Siluo was a century-old important town in land and water transportation, surrounded by the old city landscape of the 1930s. The design is inspired by the curved arch windows and geometric decoration of local buildings, simplifying to a double oval capsule shape through the space. At the same time, the common Chinese crabapple flower glass, terrazzo and iron window flowers in the early years are included, not only to reproduce the prosperity of the old time, but also to respond to the growing memory of the male owner. The design interprets traditional images with contemporary concept, and the space becomes the carrier of connecting life emotion and regional culture, constructing a quiet home of four members in a noisy neighborhood and full of memory levels.
The space takes "local resonance" and "integration of moving lines" as the design axis, integrating the arch style and geometric decoration of the local old street in the modern space. The cabinet, dining room, stair handrail and master bedroom adopt the same double oval capsule shape, through the continuous and soft lines, forming a unified visual beauty. For the moving line, considering the needs of taking care of infant, the tatami is set along the corridor, connecting the living room and the window view, extending into the rest space of the family. The original useless corridor is transformed into the core connecting the living room, kitchen and bedroom on the second floor, becoming a parent-child sharing area, and creating a coherent and smooth moving line for the public and private areas.
