The Environmental Protection Bureau, Yunlin County serves as a benchmark for green architecture, seamlessly integrating modern urban aesthetics with the distinctive features of local rural architecture. Situated in the core area of the high-speed rail station, this L-shaped building is strategically oriented according to monsoons, with a semi-open southern facade. It incorporates innovative sustainable design strategies, including a composite exterior wall system featuring perforated metal panels and vertical greenery, a rain and wastewater recycling mechanism, and a climate-adaptive layout.
The staggered architectural massing not only breaks away from the traditionally imposing image of government institutions but also fosters an open and interactive spatial experience. Designed with the goal of achieving a Diamond-Level Green Building Certification, the project exemplifies a strong commitment to environmental sustainability through water resource recycling, energy regulation, material reuse, and smart management technologies. Additionally, the building houses an environmental education exhibition space, reinforcing its role as a model facility for promoting sustainable development.
